Topic: Global Trends for Megacities: A View from Big Data Analysis

Global agenda includes social, political, science, technological, political and value Global Trends that affect possible scenarios of Megacities in the nearest and long-run future. A view from intelligent Foresight Analytics system (iFORA) which includes more than 30mln documents reveals threats and windows of opportunities that could come to us. Among them: raising problems of cybersecurity, biohacking, smart grid and transport systems, all “smart” (from your fridge to the whole Megacity), privacy issues (as digital spying) and social rankings. All these mirrors lead us to the new reality, which would be described during the Webinar.

Creating sustainable strategies based on Foresight, in-depth analytics and consultancy, Academic and scientific research, Increasing general landscape

Topic: Global Trends for Megacities: Challenges and Windows of Opportunities

Global trends are so diverse and sophisticated that one could notice their non-linear influence on Megacities. Rapid growth of IT penetration makes our life more comfortable and opens numerous windows of opportunities for creativity realization but the global risk of cyber-attacks could seriously hamper all positive effects. Climate change which could not be omitted in Megacity development could open new niches for smart urban agriculture but turn out in numerous ecological problems which should be solved by the citizens. New industrial revolution could make business greener and more efficient but creates threats for employment in traditional sectors if new urban industries would not produce more jobs. Get the right navigator in this global trends wave is possible at Dr.Chulok’s webinar.

Topic: Global Cities in the Time of Demographic Challenges

With the unprecedented growth of the global population and rapid urbanization in developing countries, and changing the population structure (ageing) in developed countries, the world is facing new challenges. The role of population studies, and social-demographic projections in modern urban planning is increasing. Also the opportunities to react on the population and social changes are becoming crucial for the city-management and administration. How to manage the cities and municipalities to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants and their human capital under the conditions of population changes?

Topic: Urban Inequality and Development

The talk will be devoted to the problem of the massive and in most cases rapid urbanization and the consequences of this phenomenon to the inequalities all over the World. The problem of the urban inequality as a barrier for the development is observed and some potential solutions for the different regions are discussed.

Topic: The Economics of Future Transportation Systems

The advent of self-driving cars or autonomous vehicles seems to be a matter of very near future. They will reduce the cost of travel, especially for the disabled. They will allow minors to travel without adults present. They will relieve occupants from the burden of driving, enhancing travel experience. They will travel more safely, choose the route more optimally, and will increase highway throughput. They will be able to geographically separate themselves from their owners while not in use, in order to optimize parking costs.

What are the effects of autonomous vehicles on urban forms? When self-driving cars emerge, where in the city will their owners work (relative to other workers) and live (relative to other residents)? How will other commute modes, such as travel by a TV or no travel at all, be affected by such innovation? What are the effects on the labor force welfare, land rents, commute distances, and traffic? Where exactly will self-driving cars be parked during daytime? How will mass transit be affected by the new technology?

The upcoming webinar will answer the above questions and give the picture of the economics of future transportation systems.
